PBS Masterpiece to atmosphere Queen Victoria miniseries in Downton Abbey time slot

PBS has combined another duration play to a Masterpiece roster.

The network has acquired Victoria, an eight-part miniseries starring Doctor Who alum Jenna Coleman. The series, that originates from U.K. hire ITV, will entrance in 2017 in a same Sunday time container that Downton Abbey has assigned for 6 years. 

Victoria follows a suggested black — played by Coleman — beginning from her ascent to a bench in 1837, by to her courtship and matrimony to Prince Albert.

“Downton Abbey has valid that millions of viewers will spin adult year after year for a beautifully crafted duration drama,” pronounced Masterpiece executive writer Rebecca Eaton during a Television Critics Association press debate in Pasadena on Monday. “Victoria has it all: a riveting script, shining cast, and fantastic locations. And it’s a loyal story! This is accurately a kind of programming Masterpiece fans will love.” 

Victoria also stars Rufus Sewell (The Man in a High Castle) as Lord Melbourne, Queen Victoria’s initial primary apportion and friend; Tom Hughes as Prince Albert; Alex Jennings as Leopold I, King of Belgium and uncle to both Victoria and Albert; Paul Rhys (Being Human) as Sir John Conroy, and Peter Firth (MI-5) as a Duke of Cumberland.
