Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will not play on Monday night.

The Panthers announced currently that Newton, who suffered a concussion on Sunday, won’t play Monday opposite a Buccaneers. It’s only a third diversion in his career that Newton has missed, and all 3 have been opposite a Buccaneers.

That means Derek Anderson will be a Panthers’ starter on Monday. Anderson also started for a Panthers when Newton missed dual games in 2014, heading a Panthers to victories over a Buccaneers in both games.

The Panthers will be shorthanded over only Newton on Monday: left tackle Michael Oher, cornerback James Bradberry, using behind Jonathan Stewart and defensive tackle Vernon Butler are out on Monday night as well.
