Authorities contend 9 people were harm in an widespread wreck involving about 50 cars during a dirt charge Saturday in southeastern Washington.

The Tri-City Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1rHHJIk) that a 9 people were taken to circuitously hospitals, though nothing had life-threatening injuries.

Capt. Devin Helland of Benton Fire District 1 says many of a crashes were rear-end collisions and spin-outs that were strike by other vehicles as dirt reduced visibility. The collisions happened on Interstate 82, between a Highway 395 entrance, only south of Kennewick, and a Locust Grove overpass.

The crashes started around 3:30 p.m. as dirt blew from west of a interstate. Law coercion officers and a Washington State Department of Transportation blocked trade from entering a interstate.

The widespread reopened a few hours later.
